Having been watching all the leftist discussion online I've started to question how much I want to identify as a leftist.

As far as I can tell leftism (at least online) boils down to:

  1. Endless arguing with other leftists.
  2. Idealising the idea of being a "worker" or "working-class".
  3. Accusing anyone not aligning with your world-view of being an other that must be destroyed (fascist, reactionary, etc).

Now the third point is probably the usual online anonymous horribleness that permeates every controversial topic, but as I don't really have any IRL leftism to compare it do this becomes my entire experience. (I imagine IRL spaces are definitely more chill but even then I think my ideas are far too removed from standard leftist theory for me consider myself as such. Although I would definitely hang out in a place like that.)

I think this chain of thought was mostly triggered by Andrews recent output being a lot more a-leftist(?) like the video about money and this article: https://www.andrewsage.org/articles/anarchism-on-its-own-terms

Also my own ideas about analysing the world without some socialist assumptions I've inherited from having most my anarchist theory coming from AFAQ. Because questioning your own assumptions about the world should be fundamental to every anarchist (actually to any good person)

At the end of the day I believe in one thing "Kindness". I want that to be the guiding principle to my actions. Anarchism just seems to be the ideology of kindness, as any position of power grants potential for greed and cruelty. While anarchism does not eliminate cruelty it is the best way to keep it in check, both in myself and in others.

And that's why I'm an anarchist.
