Radhika Desai, University of Manitoba professor and host of Radhika Desai Geopolitical Economist, joins Pascal to examine Korean peace efforts, fading trust in US military protection, the dollar system’s debt trap, and China’s industrial rise. They also discuss neoliberal demand problems, Western double standards on overcapacity, and the growing split inside MAGA as Trump fails to deliver for US workers.

What does all this tell us? Nearly 50 years into the advent into the neoliberal era, what we are seeing around the world is a massive demand deflation, because ordinary people are not making enough money. And I would say the world needs to shake itself out of this, and what this amounts to is shaking off the yoke of the dollar system.

It would be logical to go socialist or at least social democratic... alas.

They go on to talk about how the dollar as lead currency devalues the currencies of developing nations, and therefor their work. But how does that work? Simply by virtue of the US printing dollars and spending them and most others trading internationally in dollars?

Radhika Desai also talks about different parts of the US pulling into different directions, e.g. policies towards Ukraine, South Korea, Iran, China, NATO 3.0 and Europe. The Democrats also don't have any answers to the end stage of capitalism. This also explains why the "Nerd Reich" plutocrats are working towards a dissolution of the USA. But they are just one of the factions in the failing empire. It's not just Trump's buffoonery, he's often doing what factions in the elite want and masks it.

Haven't read this article yet (Planning, Not Masterplans - by Nel Bonilla) but this quote struck me:

Why do so many geopolitical analysts assume the most heavily resourced empire in human history operates through the incoherent decisions of a group of politicians? Or likewise assume that it operates via a flawless, omniscient Masterplan hatched in a single smoke-filled room?

There is so much confusion because most don't even know the actors and their goals or plans, which leads to the masses being completely paralyzed with weekly nonsense that seems incomprehensible.

Maybe being able to more explain the factions and their goals and give a framework to understand what is happening recently would be a better way to shake people awake. Better than multipolar vs unipolar. Because the first goal of the empire in this multipolar world seems to be to bring the masses of both the US and the vassal states into lockstep. And they have largely succeeded in that. After the war against terror comes the war against truth and justice and freedom, because the empire needs new clothes enemies.
