99% of "gatekeeping" courses and profs are bullshit. 1% are legit. If someone says "most of you won't pass my class because I arbitrarily mark stuff really shittily and only allow 9% of you to pass because I'm dead inside" avoid that class. If it's "most of you won't pass this class because 2nd year thermodynamics is an absolute fucking sonovabitch. I will do everything in my power to help you succeed but I can't in good conscience pass anyone who doesn't meet certain minimum grades" that's going to be the most important class you take in your undergrad. |
