I've propagated a dozen different plants but this one just won't happen for me. I'm using all the methods I've had success with elsewhere and always end with a dead vine. I've tried right into soil, right into water. Letting a cutting dry overnight. Dabbing rooting hormones on it. Sharing a cup with other rooting plants. Nothing! So if you've had success, what did you do? Did you find it any harder to propagate than others? |

is your cutting tool clean ? I've done it several times from a mother plant with success, in water and in soil, like in this tuto (https://www.bloomingbackyard.com/propagate-monstera-adansonii/) Did not have any issue |

Yep, I've got my special plant cutters that I keep clean with alcohol! They aren't rotting away, they wither away before ever making a root. I skimmed the page (will read it later) and saw a few tips I haven't seen. I haven't been bagging it and I haven't tried laying it down flat on the soil! |

In water on a window-sill has worked in the past for me with that one. I make sure to cut close to the node, nor more than 1 cm under the node and I like to have at least 2 leaves on the stem. I leave the bottom node leafless. The window I put them on is south-east facing. I found it to be pretty similar to other props, not too difficult to root. Mind you I usually prop in the spring time |

That sounds like my standard method! Sitting right next to the parent so I know it loved the conditions. I'm even struggling at my "prop station" with grow lights. I feel like I could throw cuttings from any other monsteras on the floor and they'd somehow find a way to root so I'm starting to wonder if this plant is just an outlier. |

Another thing I haven't tried: rooting while still connected to the mother plant. I might try draping a vine or two over a pot on a lower shelf |

It's so interesting how different plants cause issues for different people. I really like monsteras of all kinds but can't maintain a peace lily to save my life. I cut back my adansoniis regularly and usually propagate the cuttings with leaves in water and the bare sticks in perlite. After I can see decent roots, I pot the cuttings up and keep the soil lightly damp for a week or two until they acclimate. |

I somehow missed this, sorry! I had 4 in water when I posted this and 3 wilted away. The last one sprung a decent root almost overnight and now it's doing fine back in the soil. I'm really wondering if it's just the genes in this specific plant. I've been thinking about getting a "mystery box" of rooted cuttings from some established Etsy shop and those usually include adansonii so I'll give it a try if it does |
