Did you stop in the middle of the road to take the picture? At least it achieved its purpose of slowing you down. |

A shitty speed bump, but you'll be fine because you don't drive too fast, do you? |

They do often force people to go way under the speed limit. The thing being visible is an additional indicator that you should take it extra slow and careful here. |

I stopped and took a picture because it's not a traffic road. Pretty deserted after school drop off time. |

Yeah it's not a traffic road and is entirely deserted after school drop off times. |

Yeah but diving slow is not the same as crawling over a speed bump. I'm used to this road after so many years, but I've always wanted to post it here. |

It's right across the road here. It blends in with the shadows/sunrays, hence "camouflaged". |

Which is often the wrong thing to do. Your car's suspension needs force to do its job. If you idle over a bump, that force is applied on the far side of the bump when you drop, making it bouncy. If you go over it at a reasonable speed, the force is applied on the near side of the bump, compressing the shocks, so all it needs to do is return to normal on the far side. |

I literally couldn't find it until I zoomed in a lot. That's pretty bad. Speed bumps where I'm from are usually wider and clearly marked, similar to this picture I found online:

I might be guessing incorrectly, but it feels like users here don’t post personal pictures as much (for a variety of good reasons). So this kind of recognition isn’t as common. Some of the local communities are more bustling than others though! |

Nah, it depends on the speed bump. The one in front of my old house had scrapes in front and behind because you could definitely not take it at the speed limit. Locals knew that and crept over it, non locals often went THUNK. |

I could see it in the thumbnail on my phone. It was so obvious I spent another minute staring at the foreground of the photo looking for an actual hidden speed bump lol. Different story in a vehicle moving 25+ when you're not specifically told to look for it though. Spray paint a dick on it and it'll be repainted within a week |

After probably getting thrown like a bronc rider, bottoming out on it, blowing their shocks out, and shaking every screw loose in the vehicle, I'd like to document the crime too. |

Those ones actually work better. The short, sharp shock ones can be hit at speed if you have a good suspension. The slow ones like that will lift the rear end off the ground if you go too fast, they're way more effective. |

The effective term, at least in Southern California for the low long ones are 'humps' as opposed to the short tall 'speed bumps'. |

Probably a lemmy issue, if you saved the edited picture in the same format as the original. Some image programs change the format when you save. |

If they would make the bumps go with the road you'd be able to just take your hands off the wheel and the road would keep you in the groove. Real shame the way these so called 'speed' bumps have been implemented. |

There are also "speed tables" that are even longer and are flat-topped with sloped sides, along with "raised intersections" which are speed tables that take up the entire intersection space. |
