It does? Are you reading the last word as tear as in what eyes produce during crying and not tear as in rip something up? Reminds me of the run like the wind joke from the Simpsons. |

No, they are referring to a tear. Wear and tear generally means abrasions and other friction based damage (wear) but if something is torn (tear) it is considered damage beyond 'wear and tear'. A worn tent with a few frayed ropes and material with obvious signs of wear from being used has wear and tear. If the material has a tear in it then it is no longer wear and tear and requires repair. Can you think of anything that has a tear/cut/other type of separation that is considered to just be wear and tear and not damaged and in need of repair? |

There there, buyer beware, do take care, as a bare tear is no wear and tear, and requires repair. |

It really bothers me that lead rhymes with read and lead rhymes with read, but read doesn't rhyme with lead. |

Do you have any idea how mean teenage girls are? You wear the wrong thing and you will definitely tear (up). |

Leather seats in a car or on a couch might receive tears over time. That's part of the wear and tear. Same for clothes. Sometimes you wear out the knees of jeans and sometimes you tear them by bending over. |
