Your home away from modern life.
The older I get, the more, "Give me liberty or give me death." doesn't sound so extreme.

You have less and less to lose and, probably, see your sacrifice worthy to end wrong things happening around you.

Exactly this. I'm middle aged, haven't accomplished anything worthwhile with my life and wouldn't mind taking one for the team, if it would but have enough of an impact.

If you have family you need to provide for,it does sound extreme again.

I'd take out a fascist billionaire if I didn't have a family and was tired of life.

You're fucking right, it's not worth to live in a shitty society.

When the logic of suicide bombers starts sounding reasonable........ definitely a sign of a super healthy democracy

That's a recent societal phenomenon. There is a certain tendency for people to generally become more conservative the older they get (which makes sense, as you "settle down" and collect all the things associated with "aging"). Apparently this might be the first generation that goes the other way (which doesn't mean that every millennial is suddenly a socialist AntiFa terrorist but voting patterns indicate more leftist views than expected).

Yeah give me a good opportunity and I’ll do it. As long as it’s not in vain though.

Hard to settle down and collect all the things associated with aging when nothing is affordable.

Millennials' midlife crisis is realizing that they owe more on their student loans than they intitally took out despite paying on them and scraping by for the last 20 years.

The conservatism correlates with age, but causation is actually having assets and wealth to conserve (which historically correlates with age also). Millennials by and large don't have shit, therefore conservatism has little to offer them.

I never though of it as extreme but I never felt so close to the ones who said it in all sincerity until recently.

We aren't getting more conservative as we age. "Conservatism" moves toward the idealism of our youth.

The median age of the House is 57 (Mid GenX); Senate is 64 (Early GenX); President is fucking 80 (Elder Boomer). "Conservative" is currently what the Boomers and GenX'ers considered idealism when they came of age in the 1950s - 1970s.

The oldest Millenials are only 46. They aren't changing the pattern. They aren't yet in charge.

That's what one might conclude from the observation, yes.

Maybe that's what the "terrorists" have been trying to tell us?

Timothy McVeigh went nuts but certainly wasn’t stupid and made some salient points. Killing civilians was the wrong way to deliver the message, the message wasn’t all nonsense.

My dad once said "I know they said drugs would rot your brain but I didn't realize that'd turn so many hippies into Republicans."

People generally become more risk averse when they get older. Risk averse doesn't line up with modern "conservatism" when they're off starting another war every day. Saying "People get more conservative" lines up more with the Pinchot school of thought than the 2026 definition but works great as propaganda to say "You're getting older, shouldn't you be giving up those things like caring about your fellow man?"
