Convention. "Back in my day," memes were made mostly in MS Paint or MS Word. With MS Word, impact was the default font for an out-of-box variety of Word Art. Since it worked well for the task and was easily accessible, it became a common choice, then a ubiquitous component of the "meme" format. |

Well, the people have spoken. Get on it Lemmy! To be honest, I've never understood the hatred for Comic Sans. It's not especially 'professional', but not everything has to be. |
