i want to start doing a "community blog post" or something every time i post a bunch of new articles stating my reasons for and against posting specific stories to clarify to those who might be interested in contributing to the community but are unsure what's appropriate. i'm not sure if i'm going to do this on a schedule or just whenever yet. also, sorry if i overwhelmed anybody's feed today, i felt like i was behind on the news. i didn't go through all my news sources yet, i'm holding out a little because i realized i was probably spamming the feed. so tomorrow, or the weekend, there should be a few more. aoc rejoins dsa i avoided this one because this is really only a victory if you are a socialist, and a completely symbolic one at that. i don't consider myself a socialist, nor an ardent supporter of the dsa, but not against them either, so to me this news is neutral. if someone else posted it on the community, i'd be fine with it. milo yiannopoulos deported i specifically refused this one because i'm not interested in celebrating ice's actions in any capacity, even if it's towards someone like milo. milo is a long since washed up provocateur desperate for relevancy and probably didn't have that much influence in the grand scheme of things anyway, so framing this as some kind of "progress" is a long shot too. this is the kind of fafo content i'd like to avoid here. i would not advise others to post similar articles. piker stands up to democrats so this is a weird one. i'll just admit outright, i don't really like hasan very much, but i do see him having a positive influence on young people pushing them towards voting for more progressive candidates. i like that part of it, so i mostly turn a blind eye to the criticisms i have of him for now. my reasoning for not posting about this are a combination of this being purely symbolic and my own personal bias. if someone else posted about this, i'd probably be fine with it. republicans and dems against flock cameras this one is frustrating. it seems like the only reason republicans are advocating against flock is just so they can do the same thing with axon cameras. same shit, different name. i would love to frame this as optimistic, but i don't think it is. massie trying to push the release of remaining epstein files ah, massie.. after his loss in the kentucky primaries, i'm cynical about anything that comes from him at the moment. another story i'd be fine with if someone else posted it, but i won't post myself. |
