Source: Matos Moctezuma, Eduardo. Aztecs. London: Royal Academy of Arts, 2002, pp233 So, in the fine tradition of Soap Opera (and I'm sure I'm making a fool of myself, here) -- I was completely neutral upon our host / dev @rimu@piefed.social recently adding a vote cap in order to increase efficiency / load / etc, far as I understand it. This seemed to really set off @PugJesus@piefed.social, and he explained it (as I understand it) that the 'final straw' upon such is mainly that others wouldn't have sufficient agency to vote on his material and contributions. I proposed that I could maybe take a compromise note to Rimu (I'm a patron of PF.S, and plan on more donations), but PJ, you never answered back. Mates, this bloody well bums me out-- I love both your projects to death, and it kills me that we lost PJ's massive historical contributions (and brilliant comments IMO) because of some... minor difference in... project sustainability / security? I simply don't get it, but... as I was making this bumbling, tiny little post, I kinda got 'in my feelings.' And truly, this shizzle ain't my business. This will indeed be the VERY LAST time I bring it up, anywhere. ("and just like that, the person known as 'Johnny Enzyme' was never seen again.") XD |

Yeah, if I knew PJ irl I might say: fam, this isn't worth walking away over. But I don't know em, and for them apparently it was. I bet the Romans had something wise to say about this kinda thing. |

Uh... "Where is Mr Incredible, he always has the answer"? Yeah, I guess that fits. |

PugJesus is missed every single day. We really just can't have nice things, I guess. If you're reading this PJ, you were a real one. I hope you've found happiness elsewhere. |

Lol, Sergio... Too much information, honestly. So yeah, I asked DeepL for some help on that phrase, and the results seemed like (based on my SP and FR) ... "whoah, that makes much sense, mate." Like, dissecting it word-by-word, it did feel... accuratish? (keep in mind that I'm an idiot, lol) |

PJ said he was frustrated and exhausted that this was like his 4th move from head-banging places and so forth, over to hopefully open-minded, kind-hearted places, like PF.S. If I was a younger man, I'd probably be ramming my head in to the nearest tree trunk in order to understand. Just... baaah |

Keep in mind that PJ is a disabled and chronically ill person and has probably put more energy into his communities than might seem to people who don't have to deal with this. All he ever got out of his work was comments and upvotes, so I can see how messing with upvotes can be the "final straw". |

Also keep in mind that I have a terminal disease myself, and I've made endless contributions to PJ's basic posts over the years. Want to see one? Here: And then the resultant explanations he made, which I re-posted shortly afterward to a different community. Point is-- I love PJ, and his phenomenal efforts, and... it doesn't make sense that I wouldn't at least TRY to make the effort for my man.
@alleycat@feddit.org, Like-- the cautious, friendly, informed, object-oriented approach to knowledge. Now THAT (to me) is the greatest slice of bread in history, hehe. Facts. Reason. Verifiability. All those greats. When we lose such things, we're just nothing as a peoples. We're the deepest shame of all to our ancestors ("Oh, did you say that you liked the book 1984?") |
