GoldenEye 007 for N64 has been '100% decompiled' β€” success of half-decade project opens up possibilities for complex mods and ports

A reverse engineering and retro gaming enthusiast has finally succeeded in their goal of decompiling GoldenEye 007, the monumental James Bond adventure shooter from Rare.
GoldenEye 007 launched on the Nintendo 64 in August 1997, and was an immediate hit.
Eventually, GoldenEye 007 would sell over eight million cartridges for Nintendo and become the console’s third biggest-selling title.
Instead, enthusiasts should wait until good human-built and tuned ports start to be released.
Earlier this year, we also reported on a cancelled Xbox 360 version of GoldenEye 007 getting recompiled for the PC. πŸ–ŠοΈοΈπŸ€–

"it's not enough to get Sony to stop" some may say. However, it's better to do something than do nothing. You can defend Sony all you want, but they need to get called out with their bullshit

4. πŸ–ΌοΈ With all the hype for the RG SP, I managed to get the RG34XX-SP for only $50! (direct link) (πŸ‘28 πŸ‘Ž0)

from SBC Gaming (!sbcgaming@lemmy.ml) lemmy

I'm really happy with this thing. I considered the RG SP but it was $20-30 more expensive. Meanwhile, good offers were being made for the 34XX-SP which is basically the same device.

Initial impressions:

  • The yellow model looks great IRL, less saturated than in pictures.
  • 4:3 games aren't that small on the screen, bezels aren't an issue.
  • Controls are great, clicky but not loud. Bumpers are better than the RG35XX-H's. I love the thin D-pad. Only dislike: the function button is too loud. πŸ–πŸ€–

β€” Andy Davidson (@rockandrollmachine.bsky.social) 2026-08-07T07:35:03.110ZUpdate #1 [ ]:It's been a while since we last checked on Worms creator Andy Davidson's attempt to create a new free update for the Amiga title Worms Director's Cut.
Since the original announcement, Davidson has shared several videos of community-created levels for the pack.
Not only has Digital Eclipse just released an amazing anniversary edition of Worms Armageddon, but the series' original creator, Andy Davidson, has recently revealed plans for an updated version of Worms Director's Cut for the Commodore Amiga, tentatively titled Worms DC 1.5.
The free update was hinted at earlier this week after Davidson managed to get the Amiga he originally made Worms on recapped and running again. πŸ–ŠοΈοΈπŸ€–

Ace Attorney Trilogy (110h): Great on 3DS with amazing art, sound, and narratives. I loved the cases and characters, though investigations can be confusing and tracking examined evidence is tough.

Zelda: Link Between Worlds (20h): I enjoyed solving the numerous dungeons across Hyrule and Lorule. πŸ–πŸ€–

Sony still hasn't chosen a PlayStation 6 release date, says CEO, as RAM crisis continues

It turns out that these factors are putting so much pressure on console manufacturers that Sony hasn't even got a release date for the PlayStation 6 internally.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Sony CEO Hiroko Totoki revealed that multiple parts of the Sony hardware business are being affected by the on-going component crisis.
"Totoki said the company still hasn't fixed a date for PS6's launch," summarised the Wall Street Journal.
Safe to say, then, we're probably going to wait a while for Sony's next console.
It's also likely that Sony is going to push harder into subscriptions and cross-generational games. πŸ–ŠοΈοΈπŸ€–
