I am pushing for it as much as I can, but anytime I need exchange money with someone, I tell them about Wero and they ask back if I have PayPal instead 😥

I see Bizum (which is like a Spanish Wero) more and more often as a payment option in online stores which is great. The idea is to integrate all the different services next.

The one issue, besides availability (both on the vendor side and banks offering it), is that as I understand it wero is basically just a somewhat more convenient direkt bank transfer. But does it also offer some form of buyer protection?

For many things like sending money to friends or shopping at large retailers that doesn't matter. But for buying at smaller websites that

Buyer protection does seem to be a thing, though it relies on your PSP (Payment Service Provider) - e.g. your bank - to handle the dispute. [sources: article, payment hander, some info page]. It specifically expands upon iDEAL (what was essentially the presursor of wero in the Netherlands, which was essentially direct transfers) with buyer protection for e-commerce pruposes.

That's normal. Compare e.g. switching from Whatsapp to Signal or from Reddit to Feddit. You'll need patience, explain the Why, and offer help getting started.

That's been most of Europe's role for a very long time. In terms of music, see e.g. 51st State or Keine Heimat or some Fehlfarben stuff... (funny these are all pre collapse of the Eastern block, but I'm sure there's more)

I hope the advent of full-on fascism in the USA makes Europe's politicians reconsider what they should've reconsidered a long time ago. And since that's not going to happen with most politicians I hope the people will then vote accordingly.

Yes, hope. Within the limits of what is likely or possible. Not the sort of all-encompassing almost religious hope. Y'all keep your doomerism out of my face. I'm not naive.

That's great to hear, thanks for the link.
