It's kind of a complicated story, all these events occur within a 48 hour period:

1. I made a comment along the lines of "today we have groups that resemble nazis and need to be armed to say they're bad for our future too"
2. Received a permanent ban, probably related to the word "armed"
3. Appealed that ban
4. Receieved a second permanent ban for "multiple violations"
5. Appeal successful, first ban lifted.
6. Still banned via second ban, no option to appeal.

The second ban, which appears to be referring to the first ban with "multiple violations" still stands, even with first ban's successful appeal and lift.

So is that it? No more Reddit for me?

Do yourself a favor and stay off of it, it's all bots and Nazis now. It's better here on the fediverse.

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately a common story with Reddit. Lemmy isn't a complete replacement, but it's a damn good one. Hope you'll stick around - it'll get better the more people are around

I like Lemmy, its got some rough edges, but don't we all?

Lemmy is streets ahead of modern Reddit. It’s honestly pretty close to replicating the feel of Reddit 15+ years ago, back when it was more intellectual and dense, less accessible but also way less engagement-baity. Reminds me of a time when the entire internet felt like knowledge waiting to be discovered.

Every so often I go back to Reddit and I’m always astonished by how lowest-common-denominator everything is now.

If you said anything in the past the ai flags your account and will double check your posts more often.

So with your example in number 1. Because your account is flagged the ai automod now assumes violent intentions more often. Thats why other people can say worse stuff and won't get banned.

And they flag your account and you start getting shadow banned if you start talking about Gaza/Israel, the survalience state, calling out ice, etc.

When ice was really public earlier this year and was making daily front pages and killing people, thats when individuals started doxing ice and stuff. Because trump started designating certain groups as anti tech extremists, or as a terrorist for being against ICE we now have more ai policing over speech on the internet in general. And another small reason why they are trying to force everyone only to be logged into the official account thats ID verified. You can't make another account unless its on a new phone or you will get banned for ban evasion, and you can't access reddit from a VPN.

Meta faced this many months prior but no one cared because its Facebook lol. I think people where trying to start a lawsuit over it but I havent checked on that in a while.

Yeah, I made a comment in the past about the Italian government using chemicals to mutilate people. I said that was cowardly, IMO government sanctioned violence should not hide its brutality, and that they ought to use a knife. That was first first ban.

Then came these ones, now I'm on Lemmy : )

I came here only like a month ago and I have a similar story to yours. Welcome to the club. So far I pretty much only go to all and I can cycle through all the content in 20 minutes if I wanted to. Maybe there's more to this I havent ventured out.

Look up redreader if you need to browse reddit still, or take the time to let your dopamine resettle if you browsed heavily, and you'll kind of readjust to Lemmy. It feels empty at first but I found thats not the case, that might just be your brain.

I used reddit for about 13 years before they shut down the Reddit is Fun app. It felt like a forced detox when it shut down but I'm now happy with Lemmy and grateful that Reddit pushed me away. It's different than reddit. It took some getting used to, but now I'm content.

Besides here, might I suggest participating in other forums? Some times they get highlighted at !Forums@sh.itjust.works, but they're still way more plentiful that what gets curated there from my experience. Also if you must still consume contents from Reddit, they still have RSS for the time being.

They will ban you the moment that your speech is not adhere to their Disney worldview, it is ridiculous.

I am truly done, deleted the apps, don't even bother to evade the ban.

Now that I was banned yesterday. I am starting my Lemmy journey now.

Then, wow, banned, permanently

I got banned after calling out the mod abuse over the recent comics drama. They are now walking back their awful post claiming it was bait (but still banning anyone that points out the inconcistencies)

Reddit is dying anyways. Has been for a while. It's all bots & janitors.
