Using data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s Household Pulse Survey collected between 2021 and 2024, HRC estimates that 12% of U.S. adults – roughly 25.6 million people – identify as LGBTQ+. A 2023 report from the Williams Institute – a research center on sexual orientation and gender identity law and public policy – estimated that there were 557,600 LGBTQ+ adults in Ohio, 6.2% of the state’s population. That’s over 325,000 less LGBTQ+ adults than HRC estimated. |
