Linux Has an AI Problem (And Also an AI Obsession)Omarchy isn’t the only distro flirting with AI — here’s the messy, fascinating landscape. If you’ve been anywhere near Linux news lately, you’ve probably seen two things at once:
Omarchy gets a lot of attention for being “AI-agent-first,” but it is not the only Linux distribution embracing AI. Not even close. Here’s the current vibe. The Distros That Are All InUbuntu & Fedora Red Hat Desktop Shadowfetch Linux Gnoppix AI Linux AI-Native Linux (AIOS) openKylin ZentoraOS The Big Split: Debian vs. Void LinuxThis is where things get spicy. Debian: “We Neither Endorse Nor Prohibit”In August 2026, Debian reportedly voted to allow AI-generated code in its contributions. The project’s stance was essentially: we don’t endorse these tools, and we don’t prohibit them — but contributors take full responsibility for the output. That decision led to at least one contributor quitting in protest. Void Linux: “Human-Made Only”Then you have Void Linux, which went the opposite direction. A Void maintainer reportedly orphaned 113 packages — including major ones like Kubernetes — after being reminded of Void’s policy that all contributions must be human-made. The maintainer had admitted to using AI tools for research, which violated the project’s strict guidelines. The result was a mass abandonment of packages. Two distros. Two completely opposite reactions. Same underlying question. Why This MattersThis isn’t just about whether your terminal can autocomplete a shell command. It’s about:
Linux has always been a community project. AI is forcing that community to define its boundaries in real time. So… Is Omarchy Alone? No. Not even slightly. Some distros want AI as a copilot. The real question isn’t “Will Linux embrace AI?” It’s “Which Linux, and on whose terms?” Tags: |

The linux AI problem is a huge reason I am actively against "year of the linux" now. GenAI has actively turned me against a decent set of software because of the fashtech slowly being integrated in order to kill linux. Though that's my conspiracy that is turning into fact given omarchy and aios exist. I for one absolutely agree with Void on this issue. No code generated by a clanker should ever be trusted and should be cast to the pits of Hell, where the cog-sucking genAI users will all end up, assuming Hell is real. |

Sure seems to be. Also seems to be just another "way" to talk about Omarchy (fuck that noise). |
