Do women do that? I heard about such things from several other men talking about their experience, but I don't know whether it's really an often thing.

I mean regardless of gender if your partner is bored there is a reasonable chance they will come pester you.

Not a hard and fast rule, and varies by personality, but definitely a tangible pattern.

There's a certain personality type that sees activities like watching TV or reading a book as "doing nothing" and feel it's completely reasonable to just start talking to you like it's not interrupting anything at all.

My family has this tendency. It drives me absolutely insane. I can go three hours where I'm LITERALLY doing nothing, and the MOMENT I decide to engage with something? THAT'S when we need to talk about daily chores.

Glad to be moved out, but if that was my daily life for decades? I'd make lighthearted image macro jokes to not scream about it too.

Same with my family and it was absolute hell. Please for the love of god, allow people to do things they like without being interrupted. If I know, that my family is going to task me with anything the second they catch me doing something "unproductive" I will simply not let you catch me doing that. The problem with this is, that it completely ruins your ability to enjoy "unproductive" things on your own, because you either start believing its "unproductive" or you will always be on guard mode to switch to faking to do something "productive", which makes doing something much less fun.

It took me quite some time to be able to unlearn the habits of forcing myself to be productive, because I was constantly being told, that I always had to be productive. Please don't do this to your kids.
