I feel I have some sort of aversion to makeup and plastic surgery.

Naturally, I'm aware that I do see people wearing makeup on a daily basis, it's quite common, and it doesn't particularly bother me. Also, I do assume I also see people who've had plastic surgery or cosmetic procedures done, which, while not as common, is also not like a needle in a haystack situation. That also doesn't particularly bother me.

However, talking about it, watching it happen -- people applying makeup or getting plastic surgery -- is weirdly disturbing for me.

I'm of the general opinion that people can do whatever they want to their bodies, as long as they're of sound mind and not harming anyone else. This, of course, includes wearing makeup and getting plastic surgery!

I'm not sure what it is about it, though, that kind of freaks me out.

Maybe I have some unresolved stuff here... I guess it feels fake? Yet, it's so common place... I don't know.

I wore jeans, today.

Also, I started reading Frankenstein!

Frankenstein was most definetly not written by anne frank, I've been reading too much XKCD in my life. But it fits sort of with plastic surgery.

I used to think most women used Make-up to lie, in some sense of the word. But did you know, in most cases women dont wear make-up for men. They mostly do it for other women or themselves. Interesting statistics.

Now however I do not know what I think anymore.

A plastic surgery however is quite an intense procedure. Like a tattoo but more.

I would most definetly be opposed to myself doing one, even if I wasnt such a striking individual as I am à la nature.

Other people can do what they want, but all too often it ends quite ugly. Mabe thats what some want?

...What does Frankenstein have to do with Anne Frank or XKCD?!

That's what they say, anyway. I can imagine some ways to twist that... I don't know. I feel like this might be the sort of thing that is so culturally engrained that it doesn't really matter why anyone does it; They do it because, culturally, it's what you do. You can come up with justifications for it beyond that, but are they meaningful? If there were no other women, would the remaining woman still put makeup on and just change the justification from "I do it for other women" to "I do it for myself"? I don't know.

This has probably been explored before and I'm just talking out of my ass.

Yes, I also most definitely don't want plastic surgery. Though I am not so striking as yourself, I just find the prospect of it quite dreadful. Moreover, I think there's some grace in accepting my own imperfections are part of the whole, and living with them as marks of my humanity. Something like that.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Some people, one must assume, do want that sort of weird plastic surgery look. I think though, that there's more cosmetic or plastic surgery than you might imagine... I would guess that most of it looks quite natural. It's just that the ones that get pointed out and publicised are the ones in which you can tell that it was plastic surgery, because it looks weird. Survivorship bias, I guess?
