Today, I watched a lot of anime.

I completely finished one -- Love Through a Prism -- and I watched every episode that's come out of another -- Journal with Witch; Both are absolutely incredible.

Love Through a Prism is a story about a Japanese artist that temporarily moves to England to study during the early 20th century. I don't know if that sounds interesting, but it is interesting. The animation is relatively lacking, at least when compared with some other shows we're getting this season, but it still manages to be extremely expressive. Actually, I think that might be the most important aspect of animation, so it does nail the main issue, it just doesn't quite nail some of the accessory qualities of the medium, if you will; The characters are drawn a little inconsistently, for example. Still, it's about art -- oil painting and charcoal, mostly -- and they do nail that very much! It's beautiful.

Really, what sells it is the burdens that each character carries. I'd say that it's a story about people dealing with responsibilities and having to balance the things they must do, the things they should do, and the things they want to do. A very human story, really. I also really like how adult it is! It's not exactly a novel concept, and many of the themes, including, of course, the main theme, are rather mundane and have been explored thoroughly -- which is not to say that an author's individual perspective isn't valuable, of course --, but I found that the way things were handled was just very adult. It wasn't that weird sort of forced drama, the sort of thing where it's clear that people wouldn't do this; Instead, we have reasonable people that clash because of reasonable things! It's so... Understandable. Relatable. I loved it.

Journal with Witch is completely different. It's about grief, loss, and social relationships as an autistic person, I guess? ADHD, something like that. Whatever it is, it's resonating maybe a little too much with me... I see myself in a particular character so much that it's a little scary. I'm crying like a baby every single episode... There's only 6 so far, coming out every Sunday. I'm excited to watch more. Should be 13 total. Then, I'm definitely gonna read the source material. I might actually read the source material now, just to get my fix.

"You can't understand the suffocation I feel, just like I can't understand your loneliness."

I think I've actually made several posts about how I don't understand loneliness. And about how I feel suffocated by other people.

Really, I can tell that I'm not actually like the character. There are things that aren't quite like me. Still... It's so uncanny. I guess it's not that weird, I'm not that weird. Maybe. Regardless, it's hitting me right in the heart, very hard.

I wore my jammies today, all day.
