This should be included in the professional price. Only being in ultimate is wild. They are asking you to pay almost the entire price of a professional subscription for translation only. Kagi was and has been very tempting recently, but this pushes me much further away from considering them seriously.

The new subscription just gives unlimited Translate.

You still get Translate with limited tokens on any subscription. Though they mention, the highest quality will burn those tokens rather quickly. The standard and basic models are much more efficient.

I believe it's because there's an LLM underneath the interface doing the translation

A couple bucks worth of tokens would be nice but it seems like it wasn't sustainable to provide unlimited translations. Hopefully it's something they can figure out in the future.

Translate update, September 28, 2026

We got this wrong. This is the third change to Translate since June, and that's too many. Thank you to everyone who told us so.

Nothing changes on October 12. Translate stays included in Starter, Professional, Family, Team, and Ultimate plans under our Fair Use Policy. Nearly everyone (98.5% of users) will never hit the limit. If you do, you can upgrade your plan.

Free accounts and signed-out website translation remain unchanged.
If you changed plans because of the October 12 notice, email support@kagi.com and we'll make it right.

What's next: many of you suggested Translate should share the same usage allowance as Assistant. You were right. We're building one usage pool across all Kagi products. We'll share details when it's ready.
We appreciate all the feedback that we’ve received and are absolutely committed to making this right by the community. For any additional questions or concerns, email support@kagi.com.
