He's walking down the street in NYC, and some guy runs up behind him and slaps him on the back, yells, "You're it!" and runs off.

This is kind of like the movie Tag.

And the tags get exponentially more forceful as they chase each other down the street, through the park, across a university campus, over the basketball course, until it devolves into a full-on fistfight in the girls locker room ending with Adam Sandler delivering an overly dramatic tearful confession about how he actually cheated at tag that time in school because he was jealous that his friend spent more time with cute Amy, because he missed his friend so much. That means his friend was actually the one who was "it", so they chase each other again.
