Hey everyone!

I have been building and maintaining my own infrastructure around self-hosted Linux services for months. Eventually I got annoyed with editing and deploying everything manually and having difficulties sharing what I'm doing with others. So I solved both of these problems with Infrastructure as Code.

Everyone is free to study this repository. Ever wanted to see IaC in practice? Curious how to self-host certain services, automate website deployment from Git to server, make TLS SNI-based router or automate container provisioning? Then this repository is for you.

This is the first time I share my infrastructure with anyone. I'd be more than happy to discuss it, receive feedback and answer question. In the meantime, I'm writing an article to complement the code with architecture, decisions and thought behind it.

I try to do some of my own shit but I'm not a programmer or computer scientist, just an engineer. The physical kind, not the computer kind.

Building this stuff is always exciting but it's also tedious and frustrating. I don't want a step by step guide, I want to see something that's working and figure out why and how it's working myself.

This kind of info is absolutely invaluable to irresponsible half baked home labbers who are tinkering in their garage

This is cool! My sanity with self-hosting was mostly perserved by MASH, they have an amazing ansible scripts I never had any problem with, which is usually rare.

I can't imagine figuring all of this on my own.

Yeah, I wish I could use more third-party roles, but my goal was to replicate manual configuration in Ansible playbook. I found writing my own roles easier for that. If I tried to find a third-party role, I'd have to check whether it can reproduce exactly what I did. I also found learning Ansible myself to be much more useful than seeking third-party roles.
