Those idiots are going to regret this when Chinese backed states expand across the region and subvert local democracies. |

Yeah, all those thriving democracies that Africa is so famous for. You're right they should just pay through the nose for oil and wreck the climate even more instead. |

There are eBikes made in NA and Canada and even Africa, but you cannot compete with the prices gained by Slave Labour, material monopolies, Slave Labour, state subsidies, and Slave Labour. Also, cool it with the racism, pal. |

You'll notice a strong correlation between nondemocratic or failed African states and their friendliness with the Eastern Bloc. They're literally exporting oil to China, don't act like that's the alternative, or were you actually that misinformed? |

Enlighten me? Off the top of my head all of North Africa is both nondemocratic and friendly with the West except Algeria. |

For Brevity I'm going to focus on Chinese intervention in Africa, which historically have not always aligned with the Soviet operations, but are more important for the current state of affairs. Starting from the bottom of the index: Eritrea - China supported the Eritrean independence movement through the Eritrean Liberation Front and later the Eritrean People's Liberation Front. Burkina Faso - In July 2019, UN ambassadors of 37 countries, including Burkina Faso, signed a joint letter to the United Nations Human Rights Council defending China's persecution of Uyghurs. Sudan - China began friendly exchanges with southern Sudan in 1970s when China sent medical teams and agricultural experts to provide assistance for the people there. In 1971 the Sudanese Coup de Etat was held by the Socialist Party of Sudan. Note: At the time, Libya's Gaddafi sided against the Soviet backed forced in Sudan, but in 1973 held a "revolution" installing himself as dictator and in 1977 visited Moscow and publicly aligned with the Soviet Union. South Sudan is where Gaddafi began sourcing slaves from in the 1990s. Eswatini / Swaziland - Outlier, though China congratulated their independence they've mostly sided with Taiwan. Somalia - On 30 June 1960, Foreign Minister Chen Yi announced the recognition of the Somali Republic by the People's Republic of China. Official relations between the Somali and Chinese governments were established on 14 December 1960. Somalia and China later signed their first official trade agreement in June 1963. In 1977 Somalia expelled Soviets and China picked up the pieces. Chinese trade and support continued even after the 1991 civil war. There is a famous photo of Chinese Zhou Enlai hugging with Abdirashid Ali Shermarke. Mali - China and Mali's relations began after Mali won its independence from France and Modibo Keita, Mali's ruler at the time, was very openly Pro-China. After the military coup in 2012, Mali found itself in a vulnerable state as they were struggling with a failing African led international support mission to Mali. China acknowledged the growing threats of terrorism within Mali and decided to support the United Nations effort to introduce MINUSMA by adding troops from their People Liberation Army. Equatorial Guinea - Equatorial Guinea has been ranked as the 8th most corrupt country by Transparency International's annual index out of 180 countries. President Obiang's 43-year rule has been marked by accusations of human rights abuses and embezzlement by him and his family. Looking at the most recent data, despite having the highest GDP per capita in Africa in 2014, 76.8% of the country's population lives in poverty due to the oligarchical nature of the corrupt regime. Beijing offers secure political and financial support to the Obiang regime, unlike Western governments, with whom Obiang has openly expressed difficulty in having relations with due to the West's calls for “democracy, human rights and transparency”. Skipping forward, I want to point out both Niger and Republic of Congo have strong political economic ties to Beijing. Chinese created Nyerere Leadership School in Kibaha, Tanzania, listened intently to a message from Chinese President Xi Jinping. The Chinese leader spoke of “Great Changes Unseen in a Century” (bainian weiyou de da bianju; 百年未有 的大变局) and the “urgent need for China and African countries to strengthen solidarity, common development, and exchange of Chinese experience and mutual understanding in governance.” |

Your schoolyard name-calling reveals everything, kid. |
