At first I was afraid, I was petrified.

n a US study of 19,331 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests, 39% of women who collapsed in public received bystander CPR, compared with 45% of men.

While I don't deny that medicin is biased, especially with how often women get labeled as hypochondriacs, I think this has a different underlying reason than a failure of the medical field.

Putting boobs on the CPR manikin wouldn't exactly erase the fear of getting labeled a sex offender, especially in the US where good Samaritan laws are pretty much useless.

Imagine a world where your phone is too big for your hand, where your doctor prescribes a drug that is wrong for your body, where in a car accident you are 47% more likely to be seriously injured, where every week the countless hours of work you do are not recognised or valued. If any of this sounds familiar, chances are that you’re a woman.

I'm frankly shocked 45% of men received CPR from bystanders. I had no idea CPR training was that widespread.

In my state it's mandatory to learn it before you graduate HS. Now, I should actually take the time to review cause I wouldn't be ready to help a person...

That's pretty cool. All I know about CPR is that doing it right is traumatic and may break the subject's ribs. And Staying Alive. That'd give me pause before just winging it as a bystander.
