It's really incredible and a testament to the general public's willingness to accept people that culture overall shifted so dramatically from casually insulting queer people to a laugh track on TV to just 10 years later federally legalizing gay marriage (via supreme court precedent and of course still not passing an actual law to make it harder to overturn, mind you) and not long after that maj...
It also tied in with the general global rejection of organized religion and promotion of public education. It turns out that when children aren’t indoctrinated, they grow up to be less hateful of others. |

In Ed Sheeran's defense, fuck Ed Sheeran.
Whoa, whoa, calm down...you've forgotten to mention Robert Kraft. The zionist billionaire who started all this and who was/is in the Epstein files!!! NEXT TIME MENTION HIM!!! |

There are records of German soldiers not killing civilians and not doing other things the Nazis ordered. They did not suffer consequences. A lot of power for far right groups and the like is from compliance. Look at them like they are stupid and say no.
Sometimes the implication is as much of a deterrent as the consequence. |

Tbw album they released right before covid was weird. It was a couple middle aged men singing about highschool. Musically, good - lyrically, weird. Their newer stuff. Certified bangerz. The American Dream is Killing Me, should've done better than it did.
I'll have to give them another look then, thanks! |

There was a German general on the Eastern front who refused to pass on the orders to exterminate all partisans and communists (i.e. Jews) from the territory they occupied. He refused, and was not disciplined. |

That's my take too. Their music isn't punk in the tonal sense. It's too neat and tidy, even in the early days. But the message has always been punk as fuck. And isn't that what matters?
okay so i'm working on this kinda weird project (local musicians humor me because when i have a good idea, it's phenomenal) where i want the band to play the wrong musical instruments for the genre. kind of like this i get it's not the most original idea to do an I. Ron Butterfly on the pipe organ or something, but i somehow keep meeting harpists who i want to play something together with and i want one of my next few projects to be a blues band. i don't see how harp and blues go together but we could figure it out. now that i think about it, it'd be really fun to do punk on the concertina. i know a great accordionist too... |

Anyone here old as fuck and remember when BBC told RAtM that they aren't allowed to swear when they would play and the first words were FUCK YOU I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME!! and they were then cut off.
we were doing poetry analysis in high school, and the teacher wanted us each to bring in a song on cassette or cd or just write down the lyrics. we'd listen as a class and analyze it like poetry. his only condition was that we not bring in songs with profanity, mostly because there was always That Kid who would turn into an onion whenever they heard a swear. Well, Shitass Steve thought he'd be funny FUCK YOU I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME the lyrics he'd distributed to the class insisted it was FUNK YOU not FUCK YOU. oh Shitass Steve, you were always entertaining. |

Point 1 is very much the case. He was otherwise a "render unto cesar" kinda guy.
people read what they want into the bible, right? i always figured his "render unto cesar" was "dude, do you want them fucking us over because we didn't pay our taxes? don't draw attention unnecessary from the government". I might be unnecessarily connecting that to the don't shout prayers on streetcorners thing, i'm not a bibble scholer. |

Depends on who you ask, and I'm definitely not Christian, much less a biblical kinda guy. Just grew up around it enough to pick things up. My impression of the render bit is that those following his way are to not care about taxes and such, or money itself, because those things are not "godly", they don't matter in the sense of how to live as a christian. |

In Ed Sheeran's defense, fuck Ed Sheeran.
To be fair to Ed Sheeran, he's known and been alleged friends with Macklemore for years and had to have known that Macklemore was going to say "Free Palistine" at the concert. He just apparently didn't expect Robert Kraft, billionaire zionist and Epstein Files featured alleged sex offender, who he's also close to, to object to it like that. And, of course, he has absolutely no spine. |

I had the pleasure of briefly playing in a band with the drummer from Pansy Division. He was the most positive, gracious, supportive and professional person I have ever worked with. It was an absolute pleasure to collaborate with him and be his friend. He went on to dedicate his life to counseling people with substance abuse problems. An absolutely solid guy. |

Yeah. They are a punk band. A real one, unlike many others. They shit in Trump in the first term, a lot of others seem to have... Ignored it. Just, nothing going on here. Everything is good. Let's sing about some girl that didn't like me. Green day are the real deal, man. |

Telling a punk band they can't do something is pretty much demanding they do it.
Unless they are most mainstream American punk bands, then they ignore the plight of the people. |

Green Day have sold out, and regained their punk cred like, 4 or 5 times over at this point, and tbh, good for them |

What was their problem with Bon Jovi?
Bon Jovi was one of the most popular bands of the '80s. They were a part of the mainstream that Alternative Rock was supposed to be an alternative to. |

I'm silently auditioning percussionists this month. Brian Rosenworcel of Guster inspires me, so I am looking for someone who can turn hand percussion into magic kind of the way he can. There's a washboard player out in Texas I'd love to work with, but the commute to San Francisco for rehearsals would be unaffordable. |

Even in the 90s when green day got famous? I know lots of "new rock" and "alt rock" and "pop" stations that just never updated their licensed library and became dadrock stations. |

Might be out of left field, but you might also enjoy a good spoons player. Or be able to get someone to pick it up. Depends on the sound you want to work towards, but that chimy, ringing percussion nestles into even some amplified music startlingly well. It holds up with banjos and resonator guitars for sure. There's a lady that's fairly well known for it, Abby the spoon lady. She's kinda the default experience for what such a simple instrument can do. It's not gonna replace a dedicated full on percussion set-up, kindly obviously, but guster has some acoustic performances on YouTube that almost beg for some spoons. |

Right, as I said they were and still are an alternative to that style of music even though they became popular. So no, that wasn't reasonable if you put even a modicum of thought into it. |
