I shrinked my pedalboard from 11 or 12 pedals to only 6 pedals!

What I learned after a few gigs with my band:

  • Only use pedals you really need for your songs, don't add pedals because you think you could have a use for it in the future.
  • Behringer Vintage Phaser is such a great pedal, great vintage tones!
  • I'm impressed by the T.Rex Chorus/Flanger pedal, very precise settings and beautifull sounds
  • The Joyo Uzi is really great with all the settings available to shape the sounds and the "bites" of the distorsion
  • I tried several Tremolo effects, I always come back to the Behringer Ultra Tremolo, even if it's a very cheap pedal, it does the job!

Consistency under my foot. I see the pedalboard as a whole, big shiny cap = this is where I must press.

Love the "less is more" approach. I 100%agree, if you don't need an effect/tone, don't add a potential point of failure to your rig. Lately I've been trying to really dial in my amp to eliminate as much as I can, was using pedals as band-aids for decades.

Nice one, how do you like the UZI?
I like Phaser/Flanger first going into distortion but that's to taste. Have you tried?

Nice setup! What kind of amp are you using? I guess you put everything in front of something clean, right?

I use several amps, the ones that are available on stage when there's a gig! I always try to have the best clean sound so that I can then drive my sounds from the pedalboard. All knobs set to noon at first on the amp, then I listen to my clean sound, I adjust Low/Mid/High to my taste, and then the main Volume, and that's all for the amp.

Never tried Phaser/Flanger BEFORE the Distortion, I'll give it a try soon, thanks for the suggestion!

The UZI is a great agressive Dist, I really enjoy it... But: so many knobs to play with. I'ts cool in a way because you can really shape your sound with several styles... But it's a potential complication too when playing live (I'm always switching the knobs in order to reach the "perfect" sound, instead of focusing on my playing).

So much that I may replace this pedal with a more "simple" one: the infamous CoPro Rat (3 obvious knobs and that's it).

Okay good to know.
If you're into the Rat try out the Mudhoney from T.Rex. It is similar to a Rat. The Mudhoney II has two Mudhoneys in one pedal. Sounds pretty good in my setup!
