Cool but I've been using Droidify and before that FoxyDroid. Always good to have choices.

Oh damn, Fdroid 2.0 does look pretty nice - even if I'll miss the iconically out-dated aesthetic. That said:

The official client is not the only way to access F-Droid apps, but now you’ll have less reason to seek out an alternative.

For me that reason is Shizuku. Droidify supports that and gives me what Fdroid cannot, one click frictionless app installation.
Until the day Fdroid can do that, I have no reason to go back.

Is that even possible on a device with a locked bootloader? Its always gonna ask for confirmation when installing a new app.

Yes it is. It uses the Debugging over TCP functionality to use adb. The adb shell is more powerful than the normal API and can install promptless.

You can have shizuku working without even plugging it into a PC

Yeah. Shizuku enables the use of the Android Debugging Bridge internally to selectively enable root-like features, including one click installation outside of Google approved appstores

Updating from within F-droid still wants to install version 1.23.2 because they're rolling the new version out slowly, but you can select 2.0.0 manually.

Oh cheers, I was waiting for the roll out but just grabbed it. Very nice. A huge upgrade.

Out of curiosity, have you noticed any effect on battery life to have shizuku running all the time?

I'm only using it for canta right now and I enable debugging and shizuku when needed.

my battery is not so good, not sure its Shizuku or age

Damn, it truly is unfortunate that fdroid is making upgrades right before Google gets them shut down, or is it no longer the case that fdroid will be discontinued once Android gets locked down?
