Honest question- are the down votes just because it uses gen-ai, or because canonical has done something fucky here? If gen-ai makes transcription better to my mind thats one of very few meaningful usecases and I would love to have voice transcription on my laptop, but I dunno if theres some additional shit people take issue with here that I'm just not in-the-loop about. Which always feels like a bit of a risk with canonical these days |

Will they then then replace everything with AI, gradually, including the calculator, image viewer, video player, browser?

Will they then then replace everything with AI, gradually, including the calculator, image viewer, video player, browser? No, I will never want AI in my machine pre-installed, even remotely. I'll always prefer deterministic and accurate, transparent. There are stable synthetic narrators already with no AI. Those who like AI, may install AI. No, fudge it. Delete it dead.
Thats fair, I can understand that position. I just couldn't tell if there was something additional about the situation I wasnt aware of |
