I’m trying to dive deeper into RSS but I’m so tired of these clickbait or super corporate sites that I don’t know what’s good anymore.
I just started getting into baking and self hosting; would love to read people’s blogs but I don’t even know where to even look for that.
As a sys admin I can easily find solutions to my problems by searching and researching online but when it comes to other topics… I suck at it and don’t get what I’m looking for.
So, I agree what gets talked about on here and thought it would be easier to get recommendations by all you cool folks.

I just follow peoples personal blogs, no substacks or newsletters

People who are in it just to share cool stuff, not to build a ”community” to suck money out of.

baking and self hosting

Good luck with that, I'm pretty sure those popular topics have been filled with slop a long time ago, and I have no sources to share. Maybe find something in the "small web" movement?

Here is what I found on the web (it may or may not be broken since I don't self-host myself):

The RSS feeds I have are focused on my job:

  • C++ : the Old new thing, Andrzej's blog, Sutter's Mill, Fluent C++, Andreas Fertig, Standard C++, etc.
  • Tech : InfoQ, Bruce Schneier, Eli Bendersky, Fabien Sanglard, the Kotlin, Rust and Go blogs.
  • and Music for programming which is a great site with free ambient music for coding sessions.

RSS is by far the best way to read a newspaper imo

That’s part of my problem is that I can’t find good personal blogs to follow.
