LANXESS is using hydrogen instead of natural gas to dry iron oxide pigments at its Krefeld-Uerdingen site in Germany. The move makes its spray dryer one of the country’s first large-scale industrial plants to use hydrogen continuously as a fuel, cutting the company’s carbon emissions by around 6,000 metric tonnes a year.
