Tamil cinema has explored LGBTQ+ identities and relationships in different ways over the years, from transgender characters and gay relationships to lesbian love stories and narratives about gender identity, acceptance and social prejudice. This list brings together Tamil movies that feature LGBTQ+ characters, relationships or themes, including Super Deluxe, Narthagi, Peranbu, Kanchana, En Magan Magizhvan, Natchathiram Nagargiradhu, Paava Kadhaigal, Thittam Irandu and Kaadhal Enbadhu Podhu Udamai. The list also looks at how these films approach queer identities, representation, family acceptance, social discrimination and relationships, while acknowledging that some older films have been criticised for stereotypical or negative portrayals.
