Landlords in LA are evicting tenants to convert apartments into Airbnbs ahead of the 2028 Olympics.

They're using a legal loophole to evict people who should be able to stay in their homes, and upending countless lives in the process.

They learned nothing from the world cup, did they? Who is crazy enough to organise another big event like that in the US?

LA begged for this. The city doesn't care about renters. All of California is setup to benefit "natives" at the expense of new residence.

We do public polls to determine if a city wants to apply for olympics. We and majority votes no. Except for hotels and bars/restaurants there's little value. For the common people there will be closed streets, clogged and late public transport, price hikes in anything. There's really nothing in it for the rest of us.
