I don't get the appeal of chicken wings. The amount of work involved vs the meat payout is way lopsided.
Well the appeal basically boils down to they’re fucking delicious; particularly when compared to other chicken parts seasoned in the same way. Your focus on the meat of it all is probably your downfall. Fat brings the flavor and chicken skin is packed with it. Wings, far and away have the best skin to meat ratio of all the chicken parts. |

Compared to lots of other foods, chicken wings aren't especially unhealthy, I think? They aren't normally deep fried, chicken is a healthier meat than beef or pork, not sure there are good health reasons not to eat them every day? Of course it gets boring after a while.
Im sorry to say, chicken wings could quite possibly be the worst thing for you. Its the absolute fattest part of the chicken. Its really all fat. Then they are covered in sugary sauce or fatty sauce. They aren't chicken breast, they're the dark meat covered in skin. The dipped in delicious butter/oil rich buffalo sauce. The best things ever... |

Every time I've had it I taste whatever was put on it, zero chicken taste. At that point you may as well just make little dumplings with batter and the seasonings and keep it boneless.
That’s why I go boneless “wings” instead. I make sure it’s actual dark meat pieces and not just nuggets though. |

I don't intentionally eat bugs so that's a non issue for me.
No bugs? I enjoy most of the sea bugs (with butter). Also eaten crickets, meal worms, and ant eggs/larvae. |

Sometimes I prefer food that takes work to eat because I know I'm not actually all that hungry, just bored.
I never understood the difficulty argument. It's not like these people would be open to just slamming a glass of Soylent because it's easy. |

pie is superior to cake in every way. For me, that depends. I have had both shitty cakes and shitty pies. After some practice, you only need two bites and maybe a little nibble for each one. Then they're great. |

Trick is spear the meat and pull it out, instead of trying to open the leg.
For king crab, yes. For snow crab, you can open the leg with the right technique. Snap it in the middle and you can remove one half of the shell then pull the meat out of the other half. |

The same with drum sticks! Cooking is supposed to be the difficult part and once I sit down to eat I don't want to work for the food any more! Just let me eat it. |

"Healthy" in regards to foods is problematic at best. It all depends on the rest of your diet, your needs, and especially your dosage (portions and portion size). Could a small amount of chicken wings be a great supplement? Sure, it has all sorts of useful micro and macro nutrients, if that's what you need. Could you have a bunch without any impact to your health? Possibly, if you're doing keto. Would your health improve if you cut them out? Also a maybe, if it doesn't work with the rest of your lifestyle and genetics. Example: Chicken is high in omega-6. This is bad for some people, but only some. And I bet you hadn't considered it as a factor in whether it's healthy. |

Funny you mention that. I absolutely went through a DIY Soylent phase, but I was playing around with the recipe(s) via nutrition tracker apps, aiming to hit targets via "real" foods, not supplements, and aiming for "different" recipes. It's actually not as difficult as you might expect, and I don't even mind eating the same meal for a good chunk of my meals, but it just.... didn't.... work... Maybe it's the lack of chewing? |

Why not? It's a protein, so it really just depends on what your eating with them. As long as you're getting balanced nutrition, there's no reason Chicken Wings can't be the protein choice every day. |

also, chicken wings come in sizes from "this looks like it was a baby" to "there is no way this chicken was healthy before slaughter" I like a good midsize crispy wing with spices and just a dab of sauce. eating slop bowls gets boring |

I was still "hungry". I was definitely getting calories, macros, etc., but I think it being in liquid form, no chewing, meant that some of the biological processes weren't getting the expected feedback. |

I know you’re just ribbing me, but if I may be neurodivergently serious - despite having an unrelenting sweet tooth, it comes down to two things:
Either one by itself is okay, the two together is just a major hell naw. The heaviness is also why I am not a fan of most cheesecakes. A super-light one, fine. But I frequently cannot finish most slices of cheesecake unless they’re particularly narrow slices, far thinner than usual. |

I raise chickens to eat. They don't need to be raised in a torture chamber so they can be feed, bred or slaughtered on an assembly line. You only need that if need that so people can eat chicken for cheaper then veggies and for every meal. You could also have chickens just live as part of an ecosystem and never kill them yourself. They actually don't need to be tortured to exist |

Yes of course! Many farmers actually love their animals and take good care of them. And yes, some people have chicken, gooses, or some other farm animals as pet. For some, such as donkeys, they are rised despite a lost of material interest ; mostly to maintain exsitant some animals who served us since forgotten times. I don't understand how some people can be vegan without be heartless. I can understand vegetalian, but I think keeping alife a wide diversity of farms animals is a duty for humanity. |

Well, without rising farm animals, many of them would not survive. We could let more wild spaces for them, but even so we would still have to accept some extinctions. And I don't think we would really let them enough space for their needs. So I see veganism as an acceptation of this extinctions. As the vegan contributor said earlier, they see animals who don't live or are killed very early as the luckiest. I agree that we do not anymore have an absolute need to keep rising animals. Thanks to our technological progress, due for a significant part to our exploitation of animals. But so we would now fire them and let them die? This sound heartless to me. |

Every time the family orders out trays of wings, I can't help myself from commenting "what a lovely tray of death!", pointing out that it cost one chicken for every four "wings" (two drummets and two flats) . It doesn't hurt to remind ourselves where food comes from and to be appreciative and grateful for their sustenance. There's always leftovers too, which I hate going to waste. Very easy to incorporate into other foods (fried rice, soup, salads, etc). |

Then why are you satisfying your craving to be a dick at the expense of our mental suffering?
Not OP but: The frustration you feel from being condescended to by a vegan is not comparable to the suffering produced by the meat industry. So much so, that any frustrations you feel are beneath my consideration; I don't give a fuck if you are annoyed by my proselytization.
This is a strawman. As a vegan I believe I have a moral imperative to argue against bad faith arguments like yours. |
