Your home away from modern life.
Came across a “No network from this point on-please contact your loved ones to avoid worry”-sign when driving to Spiti valley, India. In fact there was no connection for the next 10 hours of driving.

Sounds awesome.

Hell, that was life before the mid/late 90s. Even then there was still a LOT of dead zones.

I feel like you but am related to people who think 10 hours means you're dead. It can get annoying.

Given that this account basically reposts Reddit posts I have my doubts they did.

You may not actively reach out to your folks, but some of your folks may think you're dead if it takes more than 8 hours to reply.

Once upon a time my mom sent my sister to check on me because I didn't answer my dorm phone. I was in class. Smh

There’s a several-hour band of no signal that I pass through somewhat regularly to go camping. Its not, like, anywhere near that long, but for 2-4 hrs you can have no signal. Much longer if traveling east-west, might get 6 hours that way if you hit it just right and conditions are good for blocking. Mostly because of hill and valley combos that that block signals from traveling any distance. But also people are pretty rarified in that band, for whatever reason, so putting up towers to fix the dead spot hasn't been a priority.

I’ve never really thought it was a big deal, its not marked or anything, just a thing that’s around, though it does drive a person mad when having a conversation and trying to look something up right when you hit the band.

Even satellite?

It's technically possible to have a satellite dead spot but I doubt it. And it wouldn't line up with ground based spots.
