My father used to be an airline pilot and I know airline pilots can be a bit obsessive but it's not about the plane as much as it's about all the procedures and regulations. They mostly swear at the planes. Cabin crew mostly see it as just a job, with some bonuses that you don't normally get. Crew don't get assigned to a particular plane, they move around quite a lot, so they don't really get attached to one aircraft in the way that sailors may get attached to their ship.

Everyone agrees that privatizing roads would be a bad idea, but for some reason they're okay with it when it comes to trains.
