Former Etsy Seller Emily Olson quit the platform after she says AI slop took over, making it harder to compete with cheap, digital pieces. The trend reflects the broader debate surrounding AI and art, and whether they can peacefully co-exist.

I didn't watch the video and there wasn't an article to accompany it, but I imagine the issue is the flooding of listings more than people purchasing these items.

I use Etsy for a vintage collecting hobby, so it's not so bad there (I set the filter for "vintage") but when I was looking for new things? Yikes. It's not really worth wading through the trash.

I've notice that trying to find something useful on Etsy is becoming less and less plausible, to the point where I just stopped looking. Are there any other similar platforms that maybe regulate slop better?
