The plan had been to go walk Coire Gabhail, but you can probably tell from the weather that that was off the cards. Still a cracking day out
The statue in the last pic is Still, which is in Loch Earn

Yeah, my mate Ed, fucking reprobate that guy Just the remarkably friendly finches outside the Kingshouse Hotel and, as is so often the case in the more mountainous parts of the country, some sheep with no fear of death

Someday, i hope the rainforest there is restored. That bleak wasteland is depressing.

The English have much to answer for, doing that to Scotland.

We mostly did this to ourselves; the forest was already severely reduced by the 1500s, well before even the personal union with England, and we largely wiped out the wolf population (therefore allowing deer, which eat saplings, to proliferate massively) not too long after

However, take heart! Firstly, this is far from a wasteland. In fact, the glen is a specific Site of Special Scientific Interest for the variety of plant life in it. Second, it is actually not devoid of woodlands altogether, they're just in the less rugged parts slightly farther westward from the pics I took

All that said, I absolutely do agree that we should be doing more to restore the proper diversity and extent of the forests. Reintroducing wolves would be a good move, and there is some support for that, but in the meantime we've been doing other things to make a little progress. I'd be delighted to visit a fully-forested Glencoe in the future
