Ok so trying to work this problem out, don’t mind the shitty sketch. But like Yar lost to tar Worf lost to a barrel But a barrel can contain tar So who beats whom? Pretty sure there was an episode with Yar on some post apocalyptic world (can’t remember if it actually had her in it, or if it was the episode with her sister showing where they grew up) that had tons of barrels cause burning barrels and structures with barrels = post apocalyptic. As she made it out fine without barrel related injury, I’d say she could take a barrel in a fight. So it stands to reason that since Worf might be able to take some tar. I mean he beat it by simply not fighting it aka not being present (the smart option)
Yeah, that’s my attempt at drawing a face with forehead ridges to represent Worf |

Ok, so based on this diagram the barrel actually is the most powerful one, as it can fight both Worf and tar. Everything else can just beat one other thing. Does this mean that Barrel should be the head of security? |

It’s Star Trek, so neither would “win” until they both realized that they’re stronger together, and they walk away as allies.

Oh yeah, Yar's got Data as a summon. That's a decisive advantage for her! |

Nah, man. Barrel jumped Worf with no provocation. It's a loose cannon. You don't want a head of security with that kind of temper. |

We don't know that. The presence of an episode with the Data/Yar/fully-functional situation does not mean that nothing ever happened between Worf and Data. |

Yar wins. There's a reason she was head of security before Worf. that reason is she was better than Worf. |

yar did get killed by simply getting telekinetically thrown to the ground. klingons are more robust than humans. |

If they get summons, Dax is pretty good in a fight. But also sometimes it misfires and Alexander gets summoned instead |

This is the reason right here. Picard knows best! In fairness, Worf got better with experience, so later Worf vs. Yar might be a different outcome from earlier Worf. Particularly at keeping Lwaxana away! "Mr. Woof!!! 🐶" |

Worf was a red shirt when Yar was in security. He switched to Security to take Yar's position, so it could have been more of a "why not I'd be good at that" situation. |

As Tactical officer, he was immensely good- I don’t think people give him enough credit for almost never blowing things out of the sky. Overwhelming force is easy. Controlled, precise and just enough? Yeah. That’s a true maestro at work. As a chief of security? Ragdoll. |

Yeah, he was the birth of a trope! You have to show the alien badass kicking Worf's ass so that you know it's strong. |
