and it managed to succeed on that gimmick while being a poor man's Street Fighter 2.

Yes, both fighting games, but controls and feel were very different. But I know what you mean; a transformers vs gobots situation.

When this dropped the local Space Port arcade placed in the prime spot where two corridors intersected. There was a huge crowd around the cab, with coins lined up all the way across. It was an event.
