I spent the morning making a left-handed rabbet plane. I'm right-handed.

A partially finished rabbet plane body sitting on a bench

Used up a perfect piece of scrap, too. Now I'll have to make a glueup for the body of the righty version.
I'm going to leave the lefty 90% finished and do the final 10% if I ever find a need for it.

Then at least only 10% will be left to do

I find that if you don't finish that last 10% now than if you do ever find a use for it you won't bother with that last 10% and will just find a quicker work around to finish the project you were working on instead. Then that last 10% will never get done.

I'm stubborn enough to just become left handed out of spite

I suspect you're absolutely correct. It's uncomfortable to use in its current state, but not impossible, so it probably stays as it is.

The theory is that you'll want both versions depending on the grain you're dealing with - which I believe is why Lee Valley will sell you a pair of their models. Realistically...

If you want to find out, just buy a pair of left handed scissors!

As a left-handed myself I have to say that using right-handed tools is not that difficult.
