I know a fair bit of Star Trek lore - but not all. Maybe he re-appeared in DS9? That's the one I haven't watched much of.

apart from what the other comment said, yes, there is a lot more of him in ds9. and ds9 is one of the best treks, so if you haven't seen it, i almost envy you the chance to see it for the first time. except for the unfortunate question of technical quality, which really is not up to today's standards.

It's not the main Gowron, Son of M'Rel we're familiar with, but he's from 300 years in the future or whatever. This is just Gowron, son of Keith, from present day Earth.

"Gowron" may just be a common Klingon "bloke name" like "Colin" or "Dave".
