Socialism is when no iPhone type of comment.
Socialism is when no iPhone, because electronics would inevitably move towards user serviceable designs that aren't made to wastefully be replaced every year. |

Definitely true! But when people say this they generally are playing on a false moral sin for Marxists to use items made under capitalism, as though Marxism is a religion. |

It's also used to claim under socialism there would be no innovation (there were literally no technological advancements until Adam Smith invented competition in 1776) and that the iPhone is the pinnacle of human ingenuity. |

Alright, I know everyone is busy fighting over the meme being AI, but can someone comment on that number of dead people? How are we coming to that number? Are we counting all the famines?
It's calculated from excess mortality in census data - the full range given is 50 million to 165 million depending on how you calculate the baseline, but the top end is uncertain due to lack of census data from before Britain conquered India. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0305750X22002169 |

Yknow this whole exhausting discussion could be avoided by simply not using Ai tho, not because of any moral reasoning but because the fact we are even arguing about this is taking away from the point being made. Rather than get mad at how people react to Ai, just consider if even using Ai is worth the inevitable derailment it's causes.
Or, yknow don't assume the worst of people? You haven't lived in their shoes and don't know their experience. Do the thing taht actually makes us human, communicate |

Nope, no assumptions are necessary to notice someone spreading AI slop and determine that at best they're misguided and at worst they're using the planet-destroying plagiarism machine on purpose to influence people. If you think a message is important, but not important enough to actually spend time and effort on spreading the message, you never really thought the message was important, you just wanted the validation people give you for spreading the message. |

It normalizes using corporate-owned, corporate-trained, tools that inherently favor corporate perspectives and propaganda. Even an attempt to subvert capitalist messaging can get screwed up by letting the corpo clanker choose what to draw. The images are just inherently biased and weird. Here, somehow both panels have a white-supremacist and colonialist undertone: we get a white-savior business...
I do understand that interpretation, although this is not just a feature of AI generated memes. Most memes posted here use only white characters or have western opinionated bias although I don't see anyone having issues with that, it's only when it's AI generated. The person who created this meme had the option to make the characters in the meme to of various ethnicities but didn't. It's not particularly difficult to prompt AI's in specific ways so it reveals your creative vision rather than allowing the AI to make the decisions for you. |

It proves that people are using it and they use that engagement to drive investments and growth
I really don't understand this idea that it's the fault of individuals when massive corporations and investors greenlight all of these horrible things. You can't blame AI growth on individual users. The investors and board members made those decisions and the blame needs to go on them, not any of us. When consumers and workers are blaming each other for the faults of the rich we will never be able to unite against them. |

This comment does not follow from anything I said. It's mostly just confusing that you are reacting this way |

Yeah, with a careful prompt it can work, I guess. But the assumptions it makes around your prompt are insidious and sneaky. |

Can we even calculate the total death toll of captalism? We will never fully understand the unnecessary misery that this economic system has caused.
And all that lost progress, all those minds that could have changed the world consigned to a lifetime of stocking shelves or stitching T shirts. |

And in the 60-70s, it was projected we'll all have flying cars and a habitat on the moon in 50 years. |

We have had flying cars before that. They are called aeroplanes. |
