That's disappointing. I'm a big fan of turnover and artistic diversity. I loved phase 1, and I'll give him credit for doing a lot of great stuff, but share, dude. Let other people be the dungeon master after a while. I really liked James Gunn's Superman, and one of the feelings I had coming out of it was how excited I was to see someone else get to set up a cinematic universe. Look at the Netflix Marvel shows: we only got those because someone else was in charge of them, and now in hindsight they've been deemed popular enough to be appropriated into the MCU in a way that they never were when they were new. Artistically, you just can't sit in the same spot for two decades and grow enough to have a fresh eye. |

I definitely agree it could be a problem, but I guess the question is how receptive Feige is to feedback and how much creative control he forces on people. For example if you look at Ryan Coogler it looks like he has a lot of freedom. It does seem like they have a conversation about what to do next, but it seems like a partnership and Coogler has a level of freedom he's happy with. However, and this is completely a guess on my part, but look at Jac Schaeffer and her recent exit from Marvel. She came in, worked on a few movies, then got to run WandaVision & Agatha All Along, which are among the best of the MCU TV shows. However she left before finishing the trilogy in VisionQuest. She still executive produced it, so I hope she got to give the story enough to get it to the end, but theh she left. Did she leave because she felt creativity limited? Or did she see an opportunity to do something bigger and took it? |
