Low risk, low cost investment. A TV show about driving cars fast, in a country dominated by car infrastructure. Most eps won't even have VFX. Target audience is broad with lots of lowest common denominator. As a bonus, they don't need to waste time thinking about anything new or finding new stories. The nostalgia slop mining will continue.
