Youtube itself has a download button I thought. I haven't tried it since you have to be logged in to use it. I remember that concert venues used to go absolutely berserk about people recording concerts, whether by video or audio. The Grateful Dead were a well known exception since they allowed audio recording, but they still prohibited video recording. There was a famous movie "Diva" about a guy who snuck a portable Nagra reel-to-reel audio tape recorder into opera performances to get bootleg recordings of a famous opera singer. Today though, there are fancam vids of every concert uploaded to youtube immediately after the concert, or even livestreams during it. IDK what changed but I doubt it's damaging the concert industry. Ticketmaster on the other hand is destroying the industry. |

It does not have a download button. That might be from some extension you have loaded. |

It does have a download button in the Android app, but tapping it tells you to get YouTube Premium.

ifpi is private lobbying organization. that "watch list", from what i have gathered, is basically public shaming, it has no enforceable legal status whatsoever. |

By extension, bootleggers walk so we must ban the possession of legs! |

I don't have any extension like that. There's a button. Idk what it does though. Added: maybe I'm confused, I see a "Save" button now but I had remembered "download". Perhaps I equated the terms. |

Good point about the annoying screens. I watch the videos sometimes but given that they're allowed, the bands themselves might as well post them. |

Oh, I'm not asking how to download videos. I use Seal. I'm just pointing out that what OP said is true. There is a download button in the native YouTube app. (And, for the record, I don't need an alternate YouTube app, either. I already have an alternate.) |

it downloads to the app's internal storage for offline viewing, not a file you can backup (though root might allow that) |

This isn't the first time. And I'm reminded of scenes from 1984 where Wilson Winston is literally erasing history on behalf of "the party".
I wanted to listen to one specific song. I searched for it on Metrolist, selected the top result and the app notified me that due to age restrictions in my country I would have to log in or sign up to listen to it. I mean, why can't the public library in my neighborhood stream music then? I have a library card in my wallet with my picture, name and address on it. Why do I have to pay for streaming services? Back in the day a copy of your book had to be available at the main national library. By analogy a copy of your media content should be available for viewing and borrowing. Sorry for the rant. |

Interesting. I was pretty sure I had seen that in the desktop web client. I don't use the mobile app. Oh well, shrug, thanks. |

wouldnt doubt it... I seem to remember reading awhile back that there had been multiple occurrences of the department of homeland security being involved against piracy of digital media bc it was a trade export or some shit... (i think it was back when I had been reading about kim dotcom or maybe one of the popular public tracker site owners who was outside the us and got caught? idk... been awhile) IMO, companies "losing" profit due to piracy has absolute fuckall to do with national security so its more like rich people leveraging their paid congress-pets to come down hard on anything that stands against their greed. |
