I mean, absolutely trashed, with no apology.

Some disappeared without a request to borrow them so I even thought about getting glass fronted cupboards with locks!I sometimes have books I'll happily give away.

My dad had lent several copies of the Hitchhiker's Guide to people and never got them back... so I bought a copy specifically to lend to him so he couldn't lend it to anyone else, and then knowing I'd never get it back I bought another copy for myself!
