I was in a far away city (9h ride) this week. As I left the restroom of a pub, a slightly annoyed lady waiting outside calmly remarked "it's the women's restroom, alright?" to which I simply replied "yes, exactly." Surprisingly, she immediately understood and apologized to me.

The only thing worse I've ever had happen to me since my coming out was a cashier mocking me. What kind of twisted joke is it, that my worst experiences of discrimination are so... mild? I wish I could share some of this peace of mind with all of you who struggle. But maybe I'm just to quick to dismiss the discrimination that's just hiding around the corner.

Ugh.

I'm in an exploratory phase of my career, considering a switch to K12 teaching. With that in mind, this year I'm working as a substitute teacher full time. I'm filling my schedule and teaching up and down at every K12 level.

Interestingly, I'm some very different social circles now. The sentence, "I'm a full time sub" has very different meanings depending on who you say it to. 😄

Also interestingly, the phrase is true no matter how you read it.... 🙃
