Excellent reading comprehension on your part. It is easy to claim don’t elect corrupt officials except governments all around the world are corrupt. Government corruption is the common outcome, not a rare occurrence. Now what did I say about that? Oh right: You may not like that argument and that’s fine because I’m not here to argue that argument. Instead we’re going to discuss what is you argu...

Oh wow, you found some no name crypto and apparently it is representative of everything.

No. I found a real life example so you wouldn't say "that's impossible". Now how about you stop ducking and address my original point.

even if i were male and straight, I don't think i could ever respect astrology... but moreover, it's creepy as fuck for someone to pretend a change in their beliefs just for sex. that's kinda literally false pretense for sex. i know I'd never convince a jury of it, but as far as I'm concerned in my personal life, imagining doing such a thing fills me with revulsion and it crosses the line into ...

The difference is most of them don't believe in any of it. It's just entertaining to them. Find ten people who say like astrology and ask them to make base a life deciding event on it all 10 of them will make the decision on factors outside of astrology.

An easy way to tell, if they ask what month you were born in, they don't believe in astrology... As the months don't line up with the stars.

Not all women are into astrology, but all the people who are into astrology are women. Actually, they're a very specific and weird subset of women. They almost always have these traits: In their late teens to early/mid 20s Into "witchcraft" unironically Too into celebrity gossip Think yoga and meditation is sacred Have a completely delusional and out of touch view of Buddhism and Hinduism Have ...

I don't disagree, but it's twice as common among women. That's why there's a stereotype in the first place.

Yeah, and the women who believe in astrology are dumb.

But there are men who don't believe in it but have some other crackpot/spiritual nonsense to fill in that 30% gap.

Honestly self-awareness is the first step to change, and what's painful is you will become aware before you become able to act on self-improvement, but that's how it works. I also think those who have trouble with relationships imagine that others are always having a great time but that's certainly not the case. Prove to yourself that you're better than you perceive yourself to be, ignore your ...

I mean, with the person I recently met and was into significantly, they've specifically told me they aren't into me. Though they certainly acted like they were for a while before. And then later we got momentarily drunkenly intimate but they've since stated it meant nothing. I've also since made a pretty big ass of myself because of the roller coaster of emotions and they're pretty cold towards me now.

The dating pool where I live is also unfortunately quite small in terms of people I'd be willing to even be with even in a city. Living in a red state is hell.

And then you have people like my own mom who judges, and forms whole opinions about, people based on their astrology signs.

Even if some sort of behaviour completely contradicts their supposed astral sign, she'll make it fit.

you realize it's incredibly common for folks to do this? of any gender?

i broke up with most of my exes because they false presented themselves to me. they saw absolutely nothing wrong with it, and to them I was the one who was awful and terrible for not 'loving and accepting them for who they really are'. i had one ex who specific said 'you'd have never dated me if i had told you the truth'.

was I sexually assaulted by those women? who deliberately lied to me to have sex and engage in a relationship with me?

I don't think very many people would consider what they did as sexual assault.

What specifically do you think anti-astrology people been claiming about astrology?

The two main ones I see are, 1) statements like, "I think it's ridiculous to think the stars control our fate." Which, they don't. While there is a branch of "naturalistic" astrological rooted in Aristotle's classical elemental ideas, virtually no one uses that model, and the prevailing thought these days is the movements of celestial bodies are more like symbolic markers. You never see anyone accuse clocks of controlling time, for instance.

And the other one is the perpetuation of the idea of each person's sun sign essentially determining their entire personality or whole events. The sun sign is obviously a large variable, but in actual astrological practice the natal chart factors in the total state of the entire solar system with an honestly staggering number of variables. That's not the whole story either, because people change over time, and astrology has methods for forecasting those changes by producing whole charts at multiple times and places.

Which, if you think the premise as a whole is still ridiculous - that's fair. I'm not trying to defend astrology here, just saying that people can at least try not to perpetuate stereotypes.

I generally try not to yuck anyone's yum, I won't make fun but I will just straight up say I don't believe in anything spiritual or magical.

I'm a bit more open minded; who really knows what's going on beyond the reality that we see and interact with on a daily basis.

That said, I do think that anyone who claims to be an expert on that stuff is full of shit and either lying to everyone else or themselves.

Though my name comes from understanding enlightenment in a Buddhist sense is real, though even that isn't as mystical as it can seem to the unenlightened. It's just the process of growing wiser and "enlightenment" is the moment of epiphany when some piece of wisdom clicks.

Like one of the early ones I remember having is realizing that doctors, police, or whatever authority people are just people like anyone else, they have good days and bad days where they might just want whatever problem you have for them to go away rather than get solved. Some are diligent workers, some cheated their way to where they are, some failed upwards. Some think "I don't know" threatens their position and will instead lie with confidence, assuming you'll never know any better. Some assume they even know better without actually knowing and just act on that.

It's obvious in hindsight but felt pretty profound when it clicked in my mind.

Look, have your fun. But woo is a relationship red flag for me. You cannot remind me of my mother if you want me turned on. I haven't gotten laid countless times. I don't need or want sex that badly. I desire someone I can trust to keep a firm grasp on reality.

Also, crypto and blockchain has an ENORMOUS negative ecological and energetic impact; I think that AIs are worse on that, but I'd still say that if AIs are the number one, cryptos are the number two.

And then you have the worst part: incel cryptobros, the face of crypto. And with them, lots of scams (even within stablished coins), sects and all kind of grotesque things like that.

Moreover, crypto is somewhat exclusionary and elitist, because it assumes that you have a somewhat decent hardware that, with the current hardware problems, isn't the case anymore for almost anyone, and even before that, a lot of folks hadn't the opportunity. Yet it's said to be democratic and free (as in Freedom). There's a clear contradiction.

Weird how that works out, isn't it?

Almost as if folks who boast about how honest and great they are, typically aren't either of those things. And their need to boast is projection/overcompensation for their true behaviors.

Your reading comprehension is lacking, or you just didn’t bother to read my whole comment. I specifically said that all people should be treated the way we currently only treat the people belonging to the most privileged groups, which would be to judge them by their individual actions and not by their race, ethnicity, class, sex, gender, orientation, etc.

Right, it's not that you theory is faulty, it's that I'm stupid.

How do we treat the most privledge groups? hmmm well we worship them and aspire to be like them... so we are all supposed to worship and aspire to be like each other? How exactly... does that make any sense in the real world?

You yourself are loaded with your own biases, and yet your standard is 'nobody should have any biases and we should all treat each other as if were were white male billionaires'?

So if I'm a white male billionaire, and you are too, which of us should be giving giving massive tax subsidies to each other? I would wager a guess, that you don't think that's how we should treat each other, and it's more like you are the white male billionaire and i should be giving you my money...

Your theory immediately breaks down when you apply it to real world scenarios. All pie in the sky idealism does, because we don't live in a the Kingdom of God where resources are infinite. Everyone is finite and everyone is biased and everyone is a white male billionaire in their own head.

Wow, you are adding in a whole lot that I didn’t say. I certainly don’t assume that anyone worships or aspires to be like white people, men, straight people, or cis people. As far as class, I was leaving the ultra-rich out of the equation, as they are such a tiny portion of the populace that they cannot occupy the cultural privileged/default/“normal” position - that position is filled by the “middle class”, which could be loosely described as those who appear to the outside world to be financially comfortable (even if their reality is different).

The idea of privilege is that for each axis (race, sex, etc) there is a group that does not face the same obstacles as the other(s). Thats it. It doesn’t mean that if you are a member of a privileged group that things are easy, just that you are less likely to face those specific forms of discrimination. Most people are privileged on some axes and not on others, and even people who are privileged in literally every category can have very bad things happen to them that are no fault of their own, because that is true for anyone at any time.

All I am saying is that privilege means not having to overcome the same level of stereotypes, prejudice, and aggressions (micro- or direct). In a halfway decent society, members of groups not viewed as default also would not face such obstacles, and everyone would be judged on their own words and actions I don’t know why you are so resistant to understanding this relatively simple concept.
