Deadline’s list of bidders is by no means exhaustive and other interested parties may yet emerge.

Not surprising, but mildly disappointing for that exact reason!

I don't really know these names, but they seem like serious bids.

I can't help but wonder if J. Michael Straczynski has thrown his hat in the ring - I think he even lives in the UK now.

AFAIK he did, to the extent that he as an individual can: he posted on social media that he was interested.
[Edit: here's a source]

If he is (or has since become) associated with a UK production company eligible for the tender, I haven't heard about it. But then, we wouldn't know unless somebody at that company or at the BBC let it slip.

Yeah, I suppose if he has a production company, it's one of those "for legal purposes" entities - I don't imagine there's a lot of infrastructure attached.

Yeah, and that infrastructure is required in the invitation to tender, right? On the plus side, that could mean he might focus on the writing and have an existing entity do all the business stuff. I dunno.

Pitch for the "well-known Scottish actor": cast Karen Gillan, have the Doctor be thrilled to finally be ginger, and not even notice that they've turned into Amy Pond until about episode 6.

Gonna keep my way well out of that part of the fandom for the next few years because there's nothing we can do about it either way. Whoever gets it gets it.
