The Pierce County Medical Examiner identified one of the Sunday downtown Tacoma shooting victims as a Milton man who was wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service in connection with a 2020 homicide.

Elijah Hylton, 30, died at 12:27 a.m. Sunday, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner Public Information Portal. His exact cause of death has not been released yet. The second victim has not been identified, and no arrests had been made as of Tuesday afternoon.

Tacoma police were dispatched to 800 Pacific Avenue that night after reports of shots being fired, according to a news release. Police found two men at the scene who had suffered gunshot wounds, Tacoma Police spokesperson Shelbie Boyd previously told The News Tribune.

Emergency responders attempted to save the men, but both died at the scene.

Police later learned a third female victim suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was taken to an area hospital.
