Armet of King Henry VIII (known as the Horned Helmet), 1512–14

This helmet is very popular in Chivalry 2. Hard to imagine what the designer was thinking

I had no idea this was a real helmet until now

Probably thinking "intimidating", and it's certainly that.

Wasn't he in Good Omens ?

Like an ostentatious codpiece for one's second head.

Crazily enough, horned helmets were largely costumery at that point in time, though comparably rare at that.

The usual ones that people associate with Vikings (et al) had in fact died out as a tradition a couple hundred years before there were any viking going on —and we have Wagner to thank for the confusion.

Still. Bugs as Brünnhilde has lived rent-free in my head for... going on 40yrs. 🤓🤙🏼

I mean imagine if THIS rode at full speed at you in battle.

You'd definitely shit your everything.

Okay, that makes sense. I was wondering, because to me it seems like those horns are just an attack surface. Grab on to them like the girls grab on to each other's hair on world star.

Thank you. That was a fine trade. I have this funny feeling we'll meet again soon. And we'll make another fine trade, of course!

Aye, siwmae.
